I Understood Why Women Over 50 Look Older After Applying Lipstick: 2 Strokes That Will Fix the Situation

Why lipstick can make you look older and how to fix it

Many of my followers ask why wearing lipstick sometimes makes their lips look older. Through analyzing shared photos, I’ve found two common mistakes in lip makeup that can make you look older. Let’s discuss these mistakes and how to fix them.

Error 1: Incorrect placement of Cupid’s arches

This error happens when the corners of your lips are too far apart and over-rounded. This can make your face look tense and pull your upper lip up. As you age, this effect gets worse, and lipstick makes it worse.

To fix it, gently draw your lips closer together and soften the curves. Make sure your upper lip lines up with your lower lip lines. This will smooth out the tension and make your lips look more youthful.

Error 2: Rounding the lower corners of your mouth

This is common among women who are experiencing age-related changes like drooping lip corners or fine lines around the mouth.

To fix it, avoid rounding the lower corners of your mouth. Instead, make sure they are slightly rounded. This will help balance your face and make you look more youthful.

In photos, it’s clear that lips with rounded corners can make your upper lip look less attractive. Corrected lip lines restore balance and accentuate your natural features.

Excessively rounding the lower corners accentuates drooping and fine lines, making the lips appear less structured. To correct this, gently round the lower corners of your mouth to minimize the appearance of drooping and fine lines.
