1. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water with the sugar. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
2. In a large bowl, sift the flour and add the salt. Form a volcano in the center to add the liquid ingredients.
3. Add the yeast mixture to the center of the flour. Also add the melted butter and start mixing. Knead for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rest in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours, until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough (by gently pressing the air out). Then, shape it into a rectangle and roll it into a cylinder that will fit into a greased loaf pan.
6. Place the dough in the pan and cover again with a cloth. Let it rest for another 30 to 60 minutes, until it almost reaches the edge of the pan.
7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). If you like, you can paint the top of the dough with beaten egg to give it a shine. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
8. Once baked, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
