This savory Tarte Tatin with salmon and leeks is a delightful twist on the classic French dessert. It makes for a perfect elegant appetizer or a light main course.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 2 leeks, cleaned and sliced
- 200g salmon fillet, skin removed and sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced leeks and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- In a separate pan, cook the salmon slices for about 2-3 minutes per side until slightly cooked. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Set aside.
- In a tart pan or ovenproof skillet, spread the honey evenly on the bottom. Arrange the cooked leeks and salmon slices on top.
- Cover with the puff pastry, tucking in the edges around the filling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
