Shania’s childhood was hard and unstable because she was born into a poor family. Jerry and Sharon, her mother, were having a bad marriage, and Shania one time talked her mother into running away with her and her sisters to a shelter for the poor in Toronto. Shania found comfort in music, and she started singing in bars when she was eight years old to help support her family.
Shania’s big break came when she was 13 and performed on the famous country music variety show Tommy Hunter Show. This chance helped her improve her stage appearance and find out what she was good at. She was soon ready for a bigger stage.
Shania was a singer-songwriter who was having a hard time making it in the music business in the mid-1980s. She had a very different life after her parents died in a car accident in 1987. But even though Shania was heartbroken, she took care of her younger brothers and put her music career on hold.
