Oropharyngeal HPV is typically transmitted by oral-genital contact. Sexual penetration is not necessary for transmission to occur. It can also be spread by intense kissing in some situations.

Currently, there is no authorized standard test for detecting HPV in the throat. As a result, if you have any worrisome symptoms, you should seek medical attention. The diagnosis is made by:

- Imaging investigations, such as CT scans or MRIs, if cancer is suspected.
